hasba act

i kept looking and looking but couldnt find the text for MMA's proposed hasba act.basically they want to introduce "shariah" in NWFP.under this law a whole new department will be formed which will report directly to the CM.it will have its own Hasba force.its primary focus is to enforce and uphold islamic law and tradition as given to us from the taliban.the judge can send the hasba force to any ones house, office and arrest that person and punish him or her as he sees fit.the accused under this law will have no recouyrse to action in the Pakistani judicial system.for instance anyone booked under this act cant appeal his ruling in the high or supreme court.basically a parrallel judicial system in which the executive is in charge of the judiciary.it includes clauses about obscenity and defines its own versions of whats obscene and whats unislamic.thankfully it doesnt look like they'll succeed this time but unless something is done to undermine them quickly this act will resurface soon and probably not in NWFP alone.

Given the federal government's concerns about the "soft image" of Pakistan, I think we may be about to see some massive provincial interference. It's stuff like this that makes it difficult to sit on either side of the centralization-decentralization debate. There are times when it is legit to interfere with legislation at the provincial tier.

exactly.thats why ive stopped taliking about democracy/autonomy etc cos theres absolutely no poloitical maturity in any politician right now.plus even if the MMa were mature politicians they have a horrific agenda and ideology.they should be shipped to guantanomo bay or to africa where they can compete with christian evangelicans in converting normal peace loving people into fire breathing extremists.

In the early days of MMA, there was report in the newspapers "MMA bans pornographic pictures of women on billboards and sex toys such as perfumes and deodrants." A friend who returned from Peshawar earlier said, the area she was in was sick of MMA because they had not built roads or any such thing and were gung-ho about banning deos and what not.

yeah i guess this could be a blessing in disguise, unfortunatly for nwfp's people though.once ppl see how the mullahs suck at governing perhaps theyre credibility will be irrevocably damaged.hope so.
